Memorial: Marvin “Tobby” Gould Sr. Oct 3, 1933 – June 24, 2009

I lost a family member last week and this is my memorial to him.  I actually didn’t know ‘Tobe’ all that well.  He was just a distant family member well at least distant to me.  I believe he is my mother’s cousin and while I knew all the different types of relatvie relations ,such as second cousin twice removed,  the exact deffinition is escaping me at the moment.

What little I did know is that he always had a smile and a smart ass comment for me whenever he saw me.  And from his memorial service it appeared that he had a smile and a smart ass comment for everyone he knew.  I believe know that everyone saw it in his eyes was that it was just his way of showing that he cared.  His eyes twinkled as he spoke his remarks and you knew that the proper response was to give a smart ass comment back.

My heart is a little heavier from his passing and I send out my sincerest condolences for his immediate family,  His Wife, f our children, and nine grandkids.  He lived his life, loved his wife, raised his children, helped raise his grandkids and even made peace with his creator.  I believe he earned his rest.

Below is the obituary that was posted in the local newspapers:

Marvin “Tobby” Gould Sr., son of the late Mary (nee Gould) Tucker and Elmer Tucker, departed this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, while a patient at the South Jersey Healthcare-Regional Medical Center, Vineland, N.J.

Mr. Gould was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Fairfield Township, and has been an area resident for all of his life. He attended St. John United Methodist Church, in Fordville. After 23 years of employment with Wheaton Glass, of Millville, he retired due to his declining health. He was known as Camper by CB Operators.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Gladys Pauline “Pearl” (nee Ridgeway) Gould; children, Nash P. Ridgeway Sr., Marvin Jr., Ward F. and Paula Gould; sisters, Gladys and Anna Thomas; 9 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Good night you ornery cuss!  You have earned your rest and you will be missed.  Don’t give the Heavens too much trouble now you hear.
